Thieves' gang busted, 4 from Chinhat held

Lucknow: Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of four thieves, who used to wear mask and cap, and behave like ‘psychopath’ criminals.

According to DCP East Prabal Pratap Singh, the men are habitual criminals and had an obsession for crime.

“The gang leader, Amit Kumar Rastogi, 36, a Lucknow resident has as many as 21 cases registered against him in several areas of the city.

The others were identified as Akkan Shakil, 26, Asad Khan, 27, both from Lucknow and a Shamali resident Azam Malik 27,” the DCP said, adding that all four have been arrested from Chinhat area.

Jewellery worth Rs 14 lakh, cash of Rs 46,000 along with 315 bore pistol among other things were recovered.

Other members too have multiple cases registered in their name with 18 cases registered in Akkan Shakil’s including under Gangster Act. According to police, these men met each other in jail. After their release from jail in Feb, they restarted targeting houses as they are passionate about crime. TNN
