Three people injured in cracker unit fire accident
Virudhunagar: Three workers sustained injuries in a fire accident at a cracker unit in Nathikudi near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district on Tuesday. With Diwali fast approaching, the workers were involved in manufacturing crackers in full swing inside the unit.
The accident happened when Ganesan, Sudha and Muruga Saraswathi were handling chemicals used for making fireworks.
The fire broke out due to friction. All of them sustained injuries.
Other workers present at the unit, immediately rushed the injured to a private hospital at Sivakasi. Ganesan, who sustained more than 40% burn injuries was referred to a private hospital in Madurai district for further treatment.
On being informed, fire and rescue services personnel rushed to the spot and put out the fire. TNN
