Tirupur: Properties worth lakhs of rupees gutted

TIRUPUR: Properties worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed after a fire broke out in a textile dyeing unit on Palldam Road here on Monday. More than 15 people at work in the unit escaped unhurt before the fire engulfed the unit.


Police said that the destroyed assets included numerous machines, dyeing units and chemical.

The gutted unit at Nathakattu Thottam near Kuppandapalayam belongs to K Shanmughasundaram of Kongu Main road.

As the employees noticed smoke in the storeroom, they alerted Tirupur south fire and rescue services team. The team rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control after an hour-long battle with the fire. The Veerapandi police registered a case.
