Tirupur: Woman constable ends life by consuming poison

TIRUPUR: A 22-year-old woman police constable committed suicide at her house in the city on Thursday night.


The deceased was identified as M Parvin Bhavi of Lakshmi Nagar in Erode district . “She joined the force in 2017 and was posted at Tirupur armed reserve police. Recently, she was deputed to guard the Palladam taluk office, where electronic voting machines (EVMs) for the Sulur byelection were stored,” said a police officer.

“Bhavi was staying in Thirunagar near Nallur with her mother. She was in a relationship with a man, who was also working in the police force. They had a quarrel recently. After the shift, Bhavi reached the house around 3pm on Thursday and consumed poison . Her neighbours rushed her to a nearby private hospital, from where she was referred to the Tirupur Government Hospital. But she was declared brought dead,” the officer said.

The body was handed over to the family. The Nallur police have registered a case.
