TNSTC temporary bus stand to come up on Codissia Rd

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has decided to set up a temporary bus stand in front of the Codissia Road entrance. The stand would specifically cater to town buses heading to and via Salem from Friday to Monday. The move is intended at decongesting Gandhipuram and Avinashi Road, which is expected to see high bus traffic as more people would travel home for Diwali.

TNSTC said all the buses, which are heading to Salem and via that district, will leave from the new temporary bus stand from Friday. However, buses to other places such as Erode, Tirupur, Namakkal, Andhiyur and Gobichettipalayam would continue to depart from the central bus stand on Nanjappa Road.

To keep passengers comfortable, the city corporation has arranged drinking water facilities, electricity, toilets and shelters at the temporary bus stand.

However, how passengers would get buses or transport till Codissia for the late night and early morning buses was not clear. They also have not mentioned if they would be running some buses between the central bus stand and Codissia, to facilitate passengers to take buses from Codissia. TNSTC officials could not be reached for a comment.
