Two construction workers electrocuted to death in Mannargudi

TIRUVARUR: Two construction labourers were electrocuted at a newly-constructed house at Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district on Saturday.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Anand, 22, and Rajkumar, 25, of Vazhcheri village near Mannargudi in the district. Another labourer, Veeramani , sustained injuries while he was trying to save the two.

As per police, the three workers suffered electric shock while they were carrying iron rods to the roof of the under-construction house. The iron rods came in contact with the high tension power cables over the building.

The police have sent both the bodies to Mannargudi government hospital for post mortem and a probe hasd been launched in connection with the case.
