Two cops held for extortion in Karnal

KARNAL: Police have arrested two cops for allegedly extorting money from an employee of a Delhi-based private company. DSP Virender Saini said the accused cops, exemptee head constables Joginder Singh and Vikram, were posted at the Civil Lines police station here when they allegedly harassed the accountant of the Delhi firm .

Atul Sharma, alleged that on September 10, he along with his colleague were going from Yamunanagar to Delhi in a car to deposit a payment of Rs 24 lakh with a trader. Their car was stopped by the cops near Karnal and they were asked to reveal the source of money. He alleged that the cops took Rs 15 lakh from him, after threatening to register an FIR against him.
