Two fraudsters from UP put behind bars

HYDERABAD: Task Force police on Monday arrested two interstate fraudsters for duping people by selling them gold-coated copper coins. Police seized 380 coppers coins along with a copper Mahavir Jain idol and Rs 9 lakh cash from the accused.

Acting on specific information, Task Force police arrested Arjun Singh , 35, a farmer and Mohammed Kallu, 34, an auto driver at Monda Market on Monday.

Police seized Rs 9 lakh cash, Lord Mahavir Jain idol made of copper weighing five kilos, 380 copper coins, five gold coated copper coins and two cell phones from their possession. The accused are natives of Uttar Pradesh . They came to Hyderabad recently claiming that they obtained a treasure trove containing gold coins and an idol while tilling land at their native place, Akramabad in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. To gain the confidence of prospective buyers, the duo give them a 10 gram coin made of gold for testing.

On August 28, the duo duped a carpenter, Sanjeeva Chary of Rs 13.45 lakh by selling him 380 gold-coated copper coins.
