Two Maoist arrested in Bijapur district

RAIPUR: A Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs one lakh on his head was arrested from forests of Ketulnar, Bijapur district on Wednesday.

According to police, the arrested Maoist has been identified as Pandru Telam, president of Dandkaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan (DAKMS).

He was carrying cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head. Based on specific input, a joint team of Kutru police and District Reserve Guard, led by inspector Rajesh Sahu and sub onspector Duleshwar Chandravanshi was out for search operations towards forest patches of Ketulnar.

As per the police, execution of a permanent warrant against Telam is still pending.

He had been absconding since long. Telam was produced in court for further legal processes.

Similarly, a 22-year-old woman Maoist who was involved in torching of passenger bus and robbing of cash and mobile handsets from passengers has also been arrested from the Tekamtela village on the same day.

The action was taken jointly by Usoor police and 229th battalion of CRPF. The incident had occurred in the month of November 2018.
