Two pythons enter Patna College

PATNA: Two pythons entered the admission section in the administrative block of Patna College on Saturday.

Some staff mustered up the courage to catch the pythons, which had reportedly slithered into the admission section from the nearby college garden. Later, a state forest department official reached the college and rescued the snakes kept in cement bags.

College principal Rama Shankar Arya and his former counterpart Ezaj Ali Arshad were also present at the site. Arya said, “Snakes and other wild animals have strayed into the college after the recent incessant showers, which had flooded many parts of the city.”

The principal claimed that at least four jackals were also seen roaming on the campus recently. “Since our teachers and staff are busy making preparations for the visit of a NAAC peer team on October 18 and 19, they come across several unwanted guests (read: animals) while returning home in the evening,” he said.

A senior Patna University (PU) teacher pointed out, “PU located on Ashok Raj Path is not affected by waterlogging much. It, therefore, is the safest refuge not only for human beings, but also for animals.”
