U-19 player alleges UPCA 'pocketed' Rs 80K share, FIR registered

Lucknow: Father of an under-19 UP player has filed an FIR against senior officials of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) for secretively striking off his son’s name from the team that won Cooch Behar Trophy last month to pocket his share of Rs 80,000.

Ramesh Yadav, father of the player Trivesh Yadav, in his FIR lodged at Chandauli police station in Chandauli district has alleged that his son Trivesh Yadav had given representation in UP Under-19 team in several Cooch Behar Trophy matches.

The UP team also won that trophy, after which the Board of Cricket Control in India announced cash reward of Rs 20 lakh. As per that scheme, each player was to get Rs 80,000. “However, the UPCA officials in order to take Trivesh’s share decided to strike off his name from the team,” added Yadav in his FIR.

SHO Chandauli Abhay Kumar Singh said that in the FIR, UPCA officials including its chief operating officer (COO), secretary, coach and manager have been accused of criminal breach of trust, dishonesty, forging a genuine document and using genuine document fraudulently.
