Uddhav Thackeray locks horn with Rane, questions why BJP gave Ticket to “Betrayer”
Mumbai: On Wednesday ShivSena president Uddhav Thackeray took a dig at the former chief minister and his arch-enemy Narayan Rane.
While addressing a rally in Kankavli which is the native place of Rane in Sindhudurg district, Thackeray said ShivSena fielded a candidate in the constituency despite it being allotted to BJP during seat-sharing. The Sena has fielded Satish Sawant against Nitesh Rane.
Questioning the candidature of Nitesh Rane he asked: “When good candidates from the BJP, RSS were around, why should these people who are known for betrayal are given tickets by the BJP?”
“Rane had spoken all the wrong things about the chief minister and the BJP in the past. Even chief minister had spoken about goondaism in the Konkan region,” Thackeray said.
On Tuesday, Narayan Rane’s other son and former MP Nilesh also joined the BJP. Narayan Rane, was former Shiv Sainik, had served as chief minister in the Sena-BJP government in 1999 but got expelled from the parent party in 2005 for revolting against Uddhav.
After sometimes he joined Congress and became a minister. In 2017, Rane quit the Congress and formed the MSP and became the ally of the BJP-led NDA.
