Udhampur: Swamp deer rescued by locals from deep canal

Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Nov 10 (ANI): Locals in the Kawa area of Udhampur rescued an antler Sambhar or swamp deer from the deep canal here today.
After receiving information, villagers rushed to the site to save the wild deer which fell in the canal.
"Around 20-25 people were involved in the rescue operation.

I have informed my Sarpanch about the incident and he has further informed the concerned authorities about the same", said Omi Lal, a local from Kawa.
After three long hours of efforts by the locals, the antler was rescued out of the canal.
Talking about the rescue efforts of the locals, Durga Dass, Sarpanch from Kawa Panchayat said, "It took three hours for us to rescue the deer; Forest department took 2 hours to reach the site".
Hundreds of local people thronged to the site to see the deer. (ANI)
