Union Christian College gets NAAC A++ grade

KOCHI : UC College , Aluva , has been awarded A++ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college scored 3.53 grade points out of four during the NAAC assessment conducted last week.

“The NAAC team evaluated the research and other academic activities of the campus. They also evaluated campus infrastructure, as well as the performance of students in arts and sports disciplines,” said principal M I Punnoose.

He said students of the college have received top ranks in the university exams and have also performed well in co-curricular activities and competitions hosted by MG University. The college secured second position in the varsity’s sports events and finished fifth in the arts festival last year.

“Infrastructure provided on the 40-acre campus at Aluva and the college’s 103-year-old legacy too have played a part in receiving the top grade,” said Punnoose.

Ernakulam district currently has six private autonomous colleges and a government autonomous college. UC College officials are hopeful that the NAAC recognition will help the college receive autonomous status in the near future from University Grants Commission (UGC).

“The university has cleared our application for autonomous status,” said Punnoose.
