UP: Village head's husband shot dead in Aligarh

AGRA: The husband of a sitting pradhan of Aligarh’s Sopha Khera village was allegedly shot dead by three bike-borne men in his house on Saturday morning.

According to police, the incident took place at 6.30 am, when the deceased, Kalicharan Chaudhary, in his 50s, was reading a newspaper in his house. The three bike-borne men entered his house and opened fire on him at close range.



The victim’s family members, including his brother Vikram Singh, who was also sitting near him, tried to intervene, but the assailants fired on them too. While Chaudhary suffered multiple bullet injuries, others escaped unhurt. The victim was immediately taken to a hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Superintendent of police (rural) Manilal Patidar said that the motive behind the murder was not clear yet. He said Chaudhary had some dispute with one Udham Singh and the investigations were underway.

Patidar said a case has been registered against six persons, including Udham Singh, under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (armed with deadly weapon), 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC on the basis of a complaint filed by deceased’s brother Vikram Singh at Khair police station. The SP said that the body had been sent for post mortem.
