Uttar Pradesh: Girl kills brother for molestation bid, surrenders

KANPUR: A 20-year-old girl surrendered before police after killing her elder brother who allegedly tried to molest her at their house in Kotwali police station area of Etawah district. The deceased was identified as Deepak Rajput, a resident of Sati Mohalla . “Deepak was pursuing Computer course at a City institute,” the police said.



The incident occurred on late Tuesday night.

According to police, after resisting her brother’s advances, she allegedly killed him using a sickle and pestle and went to the police station. She informed them that she has hacked and battered her brother.

‘Parents denied daughter’s allegations’

Their parents had gone to their maternal grand-parents’ place in Bela town at the time of incident,” police said.

“A case under relevant sections including 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC has been registered at Kotwali police station and the accused has been arrested,” said Circle Officer City Vaibhav Pandey.

During initial round of investigations, it came to fore that the girl killed her brother as the latter tried to molest her. “The girl told investigators that on late Tuesday night, while their parents had gone to their maternal grand parents place in Bela town, girl’s brother attempted to molest her following which she attacked him with sickle and pestle. He sustained serious injuries,” the officer said. “The accused girl later reached Kotwali police station and confessed before the cops about the crime. She guided the police to her house in Sati Mohalla, where they found her brother lying in a pool of blood with grievous wounds. He was rushed to Saifai Medical university where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival,” he said.

The parents, however, have denied the accusation levelled by their daughter against their son. “We are cross-checking the call details of the duo. Investigations are continuing in this regard. She will be produced before court and sent to jail on Thursday,” the CO added.
