Uttar Pradesh: Tantric brutally thrashes woman with high fever, pokes her with sharp knife

Agra: In a shocking incident, a tantric (occultist) allegedly thrashed a woman, who was suffering from high fever, to cure her in Uttar Pradesh's Agra. The accused also poked the woman multiple times with a sharp knife. The incident took place over a month ago. However, it came to light on Thursday when a video of the occultist’s act surfaced on social media platforms.

The affected woman, identified as Harshri, tied the knot with Pokhpal Sarashwat in the year 2005. They are residents of Gadaiya Mohalla in UP’s Firozabad district. Around two months ago, the Harshri, her husband and their three kids went to her sister-in-law’s house in Malpura. Her husband has anaemia and liver issues.

Kin take ailing woman to tantric

The affected woman’s elder brother Dinesh Sharma said that Harshri’s sister-in-law, identified as Uma, and her husband, identified as Akash, harassed her mentally and physically. About one month ago, Harshri had developed a high fever. The husband-wife took, along with another relative Abhishek, took her to a tantric for treatment. The tantric, identified as Rahul Bhagat, mercilessly thrashed Harshri and her illness got aggravated, Dinesh added.

Tantric's brutally assaults woman

According to a report by The Times of India, Uma’s husband Akash had recorded a video of the incident on his mobile phone. The victim’s son Sagar secretly sent it to Dinesh. In the video, the tantric can be seen punching and kicking the woman while holding her by her hair. The victim can be heard pleading for mercy but the tantric refused to listen to her. Later, he took a sharp knife and attempted to stab her on the back multiple times. In order to make the victim unconscious, the tantric applied some chemical on her face.

FIR lodged

An FIR has been lodged by the victim’s brother against Uma, her husband Akash, their relative Abhishek and the tantric Bhagat. All the accused have been detained by the police under Drugs and Miracle remedies Act and under sections 232, 354-A, 506, 508 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
