Vaishno Devi trip in 2019? Here is full list of direct trains from Delhi to Katra

New Delhi: Vaishno Devi is one of the popular pilgrimages in India which attracts millions of devotees around the year from India and outside the Indian subcontinent as well. The footfalls to the Vaishno Devi Shrine increase substantially during the summer holidays as most of the families plan their trip along with elders and kids.

Before 2014, a person willing to go Vaishno Devi Shrine is required to travel by road to the base camp in Katra from Jammu Railway Station.

Way back in May 2014 Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first train from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station. From 2014 till now, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has considerably increased the number of direct trains to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi from various parts of the country with the maximum number of trains passing from Delhi.

The superfast trains which are connected with the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station from Delhi are Shri Shakti Express (22461) and Uttar Sampark Kranti (12445). Both the trains are operational on all seven days of a week and take about 12 hours to reach Katra from the New Delhi (NDLS) Railway Station. 

Other direct trains to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station from Delhi include Swaraj Express (12471), Malwa Express (12919), Jammu Mail (14033) and (Jabalpur Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra) JBP SVDK Express (11449). Malwa Express and Jammu Mail operate on all the days in a week, Swaraj Express is operational on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, while, JBP SVDK Express is operational on Tuesday only.

Luxury trains such as Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express ply up to Jammu Tawi station only. Jammu Rajdhani (12425) is operational on all the days and DEE JAT Duronto (12265) departs only on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, Ajmer Jammu Tawi Express (12413) is also operational on all the days of the week. 

Both Jammu Rajdhani and Delhi Jammu Tawi Duronto trains take about 9 hours to reach Jammu Tawi from New Delhi and Delhi Sarai Rohilla Railway Stations, respectively. Other trains which are also available include INBD JAT SF Express (22941), Shalimar Express (14645), Jhelum Express (11077), BDTS JAT AC Special (09021) and Tata JAT Express (18101).
