[VIDEO] Woman from Rajasthan's Churu claims she was gang-raped, her nails plucked; 6 cops booked

Jaipur: Bharatiya Janata Party leaders walked out of the Rajasthan assembly on Monday after the case of an alleged gangrape and torture of a woman in the Churu district came to light. Six police officers have been booked in the case which has raised several questions on the integrity of the state police department. 

The brutality of the case has rocked the nation. The timeline of the case states that on July 3, a Dalit man was arrested on the suspicion of theft and days after he allegedly died in the police custody. Meanwhile, his sister-in-law was also detained by the police and was kept in illegal custody for days. Reportedly, her nails were pulled from her hands and feet after which she was allegedly brutally gang-raped by the police officers within the police station premises. 

On July 10 after committing the heinous crime, the woman was abandoned in front of her house. The victim has recorded her statement with the police while undergoing treatment in the local hospital. In her official statement, she claimed that she saw the police officers beating her brother-in-law to death in the police station.

However, so far six police officers including the suspended Station House Officer of the police station has been booked under the sections of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation in the case is underway.
