Vidya Balan Starrer 'Sherni' To Resume Shooting In October

Due to the ongoing pandemic, many film shoots were halted as the country went in lockdown to control the virus that is spreading like wildfire. Actor Vidya Balan‘s Sherni‘s shoot too was brought to halt in mid-March. And now after almost 5 months, director Amit Masurkar is slowly chalking out a plan to kickstart the shoot again.

And according to a report by MidDay, the film will go on floors again by the first week of October 2020.

In an interview with MidDay, producer Vikram Malhotra revealing the location of the next schedule said—

The next location is Balaghat; we will be filming in the jungles of Madhya Pradesh. The safety of the cast and crew is key, which is why we have waited for so many months to resume work. The number of cases is reducing, but the nature of the menace is such that we need to have our guards up.

Vikram revealed that 65 per cent of the film is yet to shot and the makers have acquired all the necessary permission from the Madhya Pradesh government.

The authorities facilitating production in Madhya Pradesh have assured me that the area is safe to shoot in. Internally, we will follow the strictest guidelines of health and safety.

The producer also spoke about how three weeks into their first stint in Bhopal, the team had to be hurriedly brought back to Mumbai as the lockdown was announced. He also revealed that irrespective of the situation the unit was paid until the first week of May as mentioned in the contract.

In the early days of the crisis, we had little information on how to practise safety measures. As the producer, the first thing we did was to protect the daily-wage workers in the unit. We made sure there was no income displacement. Everyone on the contract was paid till the first week of May.

In the film, Vidya Balan will be playing the role of a forest officer who is keen on solving man-animal conflict. Emphasizing on the fact that she has been at home for 5 months now, the actor said— “I am excited, not scared. Fear won’t help much, all we can do is be as careful as possible and move forward.”
