Vijayawada ACB finds faults with another welfare hostel

Vijayawada: Anti-Corruption Bureau ( ACB ) officials conducted surprise checks at a girl’s welfare hostel at Mundinepalli village in Krishna district on Thursday and found several irregularities.

According to Vijayawada range ACB sleuths, they had received complaints about irregularities in the hostel and conducted the checks in the morning.

Upon reaching the spot, officials found that there has been a variation of stocks in rice, dal, oil and tamarind.

Officials said that the hostel warden was flouting rules and was not present in the headquarters. He was residing at Kolavenu village of Kankipadu mandal. The cooks were also not following the set menu and milk, egg, banana and groundnut chikkies are being served only twice a week.

The attendance and stock registers too were not properly being maintained as sleuths took a stock of the boarders present in the hostel. A detailed report will soon be prepared in this regard and submitted to the ACB DG who would then recommend for departmental action against the erring officials.

This is the second hostel in the district raided by ACB officials, after Tiruvuru on July 30. Officials in the district have been conducting a drive against welfare hostels after the brutal murder case in Challapalli BC Welfare Hostel on August 5.
