Voting picks up in Ludhiana after slow start

LUDHIANA: Even as voting began on slow pace in Ludhiana Lok Sabha constituency, it picked up later with more than 21 per cent voters casting their votes till 11am. The voting per cent was 9.06% till 9am.


Jagraon assembly segment had witnessed highest polling percentage of 12.26 till 9am whereas Atam Nagar constituency witnessed the lowest polling percentage of 3.29% at that time.

The polling percentage in Ludhiana Lok Sabha constituency increased to 21.23% at 11am with Dakha witnessing 27.54% voting. The polling percentage at 1pm was recorded at 24.22% with Gill assembly segment witnessing 36% polling.

The authority said that the polling was violence free. Deputy Commissioner cum District Electoral Officer Pardeep Agarwal said that the polling was peaceful.

In the meanwhile enthusiasm was witnessed among the voters as they lined up for casting vote in various areas of city and outskirt .“I was so excited to cast vote for this election that I came around 7.30am and I’m feeling responsible after voting”, said Akshit Garg, a voter.
