Wanlura Diengdoh sworn in as Meghalaya High Court judge
Shillong, Nov 15 (IANS) Judicial service official Wanlura Diengdoh on Friday was sworn as a judge of the Meghalaya High Court.Diengdoh was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq in the court premises in the presence of the court’s other judge, Justice Hamarsan Sing Thangkhiew and other dignitaries.Diengdoh is the third Khasi, an indigenous ethnic group of Meghalaya, to become a High Court judge.The first Khasi was Justice Beryl Lamare, who was a judge of the Gauhati High Court and followed by Thangkhiew.On October 15, the Supreme Court Collegium approved a proposal for Diengdoh’s elevation.Prior to this, Diengdoh had served as District and Sessions Judge, East Khasi Hills.
