In West Bengal, 13 people died in two road accidents on Thursday. 11 others were injured in these accidents. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
Police said that a MUV vehicle fell into a pond by the roadside in South 24 Parganas district. This led to the death of five members of the same family and two other people aboard. They were returning from Kolkata airport. The accident occurred at six in the morning when the driver lost control of the vehicle during rains in Uchekhali under Bishnupur police station area.
Police said all seven people, including three women, died on the spot due to drowning in the pond. He said that another accident occurred in the Malda district of the state. In the district late Wednesday night, a speeding lorry collided with an SUV parked on the road, killing six people and injuring 11 people.
