DC Comics has finally shed light on the conspicuous absence of Bat-Mite, a significant character from the Bat-Family, in contemporary Batman narratives.

The explanation comes with the character's reappearance in Batman/Superman: World's Finest #26 (2022) amid a new threat from the Fifth Dimension.

Per ScreenRant, the Man of Steel discloses that Batman is not comfortable with Bat-Mite's excessive admiration, stating firmly that "Batman doesn't appreciate fanboys."

In Batman/Superman: World's Finest #26, Bat-Mite re-emerges as a new threat looms from the Fifth Dimension.

The comic issue, created by Mark Waid, Dan Mora, Tamra Bonvillain, and Steve Wands, sees Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk (Superman's imp) warning their heroes about a potential disaster that could ravage the Third Dimension.

Character history

Bat-Mite, known for his extra-dimensional abilities, debuted shortly after Mr. Mxyzptlk and was recognized for creating challenges for Batman to overcome.

Despite his benign intentions, Bat-Mite's antics often irritated Batman.

His appearances decreased during the Bronze Age and post-Crisis On Infinite Earths; his history with the Bat-Family was largely erased except for a few humorous cameos.

After Dark Nights: Death Metal, Bat-Mite's history with Batman was reinstated into canon but he still failed to win over his hero.

About the mite

In Fifth Dimension, Bat-Mite reigns as the ultimate superhero enthusiast, but he's not alone in his fervor.

Numerous other mites have emerged over time, each expressing an intense admiration for their favorite heroes.

From Ms. Trxlchyk mirroring Harley Quinn's style to Nite-Mite giving Nightwing insight into Batman's experiences, these impish beings often emulate their idols.

The introduction of the Just-Us League of the Fifth Dimension showcased an entire squad of mites devoted to their counterparts in the DC Universe.
