Woman's body found in suitcase on Kanpur-Farrukhabad passenger train

Agra: A body of an unidentified woman was found in Kanpur-Farrukhabad passenger train early on Friday. The body was reportedly stashed in a red colour trolley-suitcase.

The matter came to light at 12:30 am, when railway staff found an unattended suitcase near a lavatory of the train’s coach at Farrukhabad railway station.

Wearing a T-shirt and legging, the woman’s body was wrapped in a polythene bag and stashed along with a pillow and sugar sack.

Senior sub-inspector Sanjay Kumar of Farrukhabad GRP (Agra division) said, “The victim seems to be in her early 20s. There were no injury marks on her body. We have shared her picture with various police stations of Farrukhabad and Kanpur district police to establish her identity. Her body has been sent to a local mortuary where doctors will wait for three days. If no one comes to identify her, then we would initiate her postmortem to ascertain cause of death.”

“CCTV footage of all the 25 stations between Kanpur and Farrukhabad are being scanned to find out the people who were travelling with the body stashed in suitcase,” he added.
