Work for party even if you don't get ticket: CM to son

JODHPUR: Amid the buzz that Vaibhav Gehlot could be Congress candidate from Jodhpur or Jalore Lok Sabha seat, his father and chief minister Ashok Gehlot has advised him to work for the party even if he does not given the chance this time.

The chief minister, who was in Jodhpur along with Vaibhav on the occasion of Holi, said this while addressing the party workers and leaders from all three city assembly constituencies.

“If he (Vaibhav) gets the ticket, it is fine. But even if he does not get it, this does not mean he should go and sit at home. He should campaign for whosoever gets the Congress ticket,” said Gehlot.

Vaibhav later told the media that he would be going with the decision of the party high command. “If I get the ticket to contest election from Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency, it is fine. Otherwise, I would campaign for whoever is the party candidate,” said Viabhav, who has been active in the party for over a decade now.

According to the party sources, Gehlot has been exploring the possibility of fielding his son from Jodhpur or Jalore-Sirohi Lok Sabha constituency.

During his visit to Sirohi, slogans were shouted in favour of Vaibhav. The CM had shared dais with the party rebel and Sirohi MLA Sanyam Lodha, which had left many guessing about the future political equations.

Though, the father-son duo claim to have left everything to the party high command about the candidate selection, Vaibhav has become more active ahead of the parliamentary election making his presence felt at every party activity in Jodhpur.

His meeting with the Jodhpur party president Saeed Ansari had triggered speculations that he may be given a go ahead to contest from Jodhpur.
