Yeddyurappa confidantes get BJP tickets in first list

BENGALURU: The first list of BJP candidates have confirmed that the central leadership, including prime minister Narendra Modi and national president Amit Shah continue to have faith in party state president and Lingayat strongman B S Yeddyurappa.


With the list featuring the names of his son B Y Raghavendra (Shivamogga), confidantes Shobha Karandlaje (Udupi-Chikkamagalur), G S Basavaraju (Tumakuru), B N Bacchegowda (Chikkaballapura), V Sreenivas Prasad (Chamrajnagar), and the Congress rebels including A Manju (Hassan) and Umesh Jadhav (Kalaburgi), Yeddyurappa has shown that he continues to be the undisputed party leader in the state.

It may be recalled that Yeddyurappa is said to have assured the central leadership, in the specific case of Karandlaje, that it was his responsibililty to ensure her victory despite opposition from the local leaders.

7) Bengaluru South: Tejaswini Ananth Kumar
