Yogi Adityanath government to set up Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh university in Aligarh

AGRA: To woo more than one lakh Jat voters in Iglas assembly constituency, where elections are scheduled for October 21, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday announced his government‘s decision to set up a university in the name of freedom fighter, Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, in Aligarh.

While addressing an election rally in favour of BJP candidate Rajkumar Sahyogi, the CM said Mahendra Pratap had donated land for setting up Aligarh Muslim University but the credit for establishing a higher education centre was never given to him as his name was never inscribed on its walls.

“My government is only doing what is logical by setting up a university in the name of the Jat leader,” said Yogi.

The CM also announced that the Ramala Sugar Mill will be inaugurated in the ensuing sugarcane session. “By making farmers happy, we want to realize the dreams of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh who had done a lot for sugarcane farmers,” he said. He added that the the government’s aim is to uplift farmers’ lot by increasing their earnings and fulfill the dreams of Chaudhary.

In a scathing attack on opposition parties, the CM said Congress not only gave terrorism and corruption to this country but also insulted Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar by granting special status to Kashmir.

Yogi said BJP has achieved what other parties, including SP, BSP, and Congress, could not do in the last 70 years despite being in power. He said, “The Modi-led BJP government revoked the special status bestowed upon the state of J&K, which was a hurdle in the development of the Valley.”
