Youth killed for Rs 500 in Kota district

Kota: A 22-year-old youth , who was attacked by four members of a family on Monday night for failing to return Rs 500 that he had borrowed from them around 18 months ago, succumbed to his injuries at SRG Hospital in Jhalawar district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased, identified as Banti Bairwa, was a resident of Satalkhedi village under Kaithun police station here.



Police have registered a murder case under Section 302 of the IPC against the four accused identified as Ramesh Bairwa and three sons Kalu, Golu and Pankaj, Kaithun SHO Mohan Singh said.

Sources said Kalu met Banti at his shop around 9pm on Monday and asked him to return the money, which led to a scuffle between the two. Later, Kalu’s father and brothers joined him and attacked the youth with sharp weapons, Singh said. Police said Banti, who used to run a stall that sold items of daily use near his home, had sustained deep wounds in his stomach.

According to Singh, Banti had allegedly borrowed Rs 500 from Kalu (20) around one-and-a-half-years ago, but failed to repay the amount despite repeated demands. Banti’s body has been handed over to his family members after autopsy. Singh said probe was underway, but none of the culprits had been arrested yet.
