Youth who attempted to rape minor Dalit girl in Etah in September, arrested

Agra: Two months after a 20-year-old youth was booked for attempting to rape a minor Dalit girl at a remote village of Etah district, police arrested the accused on Thursday morning.

Identified as Sonu, the resident of Nagla Shrikrishna village under Sakrauli police station was charged under sections 354B (assault or use of criminal force on woman with intent to disrobe), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 511 (offences punishable with imprisonment for life) of IPC and the POCSO Act.

Sakrauli SHO Kritpal Singh said, “On September 17, Sonu’s neighbour lodged an FIR against him, stating that he had attempted to rape his 12-year-old daughter while she was alone at home.”

“In her statement, the girl claimed the accused had torn her clothes and forced himself on her. After the FIR, accused went absconding but was arrested on Thursday,” said SHO.
