YouTuber Elvish Yadav now being probed for money laundering by ED

New Delhi: The ED has initiated a money laundering investigation against YouTuber Elvish Yadav in an alleged case of using snake venom as a recreational drug in parties and laundering the proceeds of crime. He was arrested last year in Nov along with five accomplices, all snake charmers, by the Noida police.

The ED’s probe, initiated last week based on a police FIR registered at Sector 49 police station in Noida, will track money trail of the ‘proceeds of crime’.

The police, after the arrest of the YouTuber, had also recovered half-a-dozen snakes from the possession of the six accused, currently out on bail.

Acting on a complaint filed by an NGO and animal rights activists, the Noida police had searched the premises of the accused and recovered several cobras used by the suspects to extract their venom for sale in rave parties. Yadav was trapped by activists by ordering snake venom for a party where he had allegedly delivered 20ml of venom. The police had seized the same and sent it for forensic examination, which later became grounds for arrest of the accused.

The Noida police also filed a chargesheet in the case recently, pressing charges against the accused under various sections of the IPC, Wildlife Act and NDPS Act.
