Commentary
  • Right then. That is all that we have from this tour! The Test series was shared between both of these teams but the T20I series has been cleaned up by Afghanistan. We have enjoyed bringing the coverage of this game and tour to you. Until next time. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • Asghar Afghan, the Afghanistan captain, says that it is very important to win the series 3-0, as their morale will improve. Adds that they are missing some key players, but hopes that they will join them in the next series. Says that the other guys came and played and praises the coaching staff as they got some new players here.
  • KARIM JANAT IS THE PLAYER OF THE SERIES! He says that this is the first time that he has come in the top order and he took full toll of this opportunity. Feels that the wicket was slow and the ball was coming onto the bat slower.
  • NAJIBULLAH ZADRAN IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH! He says that getting to bat in the top order was good and he enjoyed his time there. Adds that when Afghan came to the crease, he told him that they will build a partnership for the next 3 overs, and then Zadran can go and play his natural strokes.
  • Sean Williams, the Zimbabwe skipper, says that looking at the Test series, it was sad to lose out on the T20I series and they will take some positives from this series and they will learn from this. Says that their bowling, towards the end of the innings, was bad, and losing wickets at the start of the innings was not good too.
  • Earlier, on the back of a quickfire innings from Najibullah Zadran and contributions from Usman Ghani, Asghar Afghan, and Karim Janat, Afghanistan managed to score 183. Zimbabwe, with the ball, were superb early on but then faltered at the fag end and conceded 78 runs in the final 6 overs which proved too much in the end for the Zimbabweans as they lost.
  • With the ball, Debutant Fazal Haque was brilliant as he picked up a wicket on his international debut. Nabi and Naveen-ul-Haq too managed a wicket each as Janat was impressive once again as he bagged a couple of wickets. Overall a superb bowling display from them see them take the series 3-0.
  • Chasing a total of 184 runs, Zimbabwe needed a strong start with the bat but they could not get one and in the end, faltered batting from them see them go down losing. A couple of batsmen did get starts but none could continue all over to take Zimbabwe over the line. Raza and Burl did try hard enough to keep Zimbabwe into the hunt but the task was too much to ask for as they went down fighting it hard.
  • They never got going with the bat, did the Rhodesians. They lost their first wicket, right in the first over and this is the trend, that followed for most of this run chase. They just kept losing wickets and there was no aggressor in the squad, who could attack from one end and keep the run flow going. Towards the end, Burl and Raza stitched an 80-run stand but this came really late into the game and it did not matter much, in the grand scheme of the game.
  • Easily done by Afghanistan in the end and they have deservedly won this series 3-0 and have whitewashed their counterparts, from Africa. Zimbabwe never looked like they were in the game, throughout the chase, and have been beaten by 47 runs.
