Commentary
  • Right then! That's all we have from this game, but we will not have to wait too long for the next game to get underway in this enticing series. The action continues on Saturday 8th October. It will be Pakistan up against the hosts, New Zealand. The match is all set to begin at 11.30 am IST (6.00 am GMT). But join us in advance for the build-up. Till then, goodbye and take care!
  • Nurul Hasan the captain of Bangladesh says that it is a bit disappointing to lose the game. Adds that they need to improve a few areas, especially losing wickets in the middle which is a concern for them. Mentions that Taskin Ahmed bowled really well and credits the spinners as well but still they need to get better in the next game.
  • Babar Azam the skipper of Pakistan says that they are happy as a team and this win will give them a lot of confidence. Adds that they started well, Mohammad Rizwan did well again, he stayed till the end and took Pakistan to a good score. He praises Shan Masood for his batting as well. Further says that they were happy with the total. Mentions that the weather is different here but as professional cricketers, they need to be ready for everything. Adds that all the bowlers were excellent. Ends by saying that they are looking forward to the game against New Zealand.
  • Mohammad Rizwan is the Player of the Match. He says that it is a good feeling to win the man of the match for Pakistan. Adds that he and Babar Azam planned to keep things simple. Mentions that he found the pitch good to bat on but says that they were 10-15 runs short. He praises the bowlers for the way they defended the total. Tells that he believes in hard work. Ends by saying that some of the boundaries are big here and they tried to pick their moments.
  • Stay tuned for the presentation...
  • Earlier in the game, Bangladesh put Pakistan to bat first and they put up a fighting total of 167 on the board. It was once again Mohammad Rizwan who helped Pakistan get to that total. He scored unbeaten 78 runs off 50 balls for his side, while Babar Azam and Shan Masood chipped in with vital runs. In reply, Bangladesh suffered a batting collapse in the middle overs and let the game slip away from them.
  •  It was a collective bowling performance from Pakistan. The spinners were exceptional in the middle overs, while the seamers took control in the slog overs. Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz took 3 and 2 wickets respectively, whereas the other bowlers grabbed a wicket apiece.
  • Pakistan got off to a breezy start! They got rid of the openers within the Powerplay and had their noses ahead early in the innings. Litton Das and Afif Hossain then did some sort of repair work and took the momentum away from Pakistan. They put on a stand of 50 runs and put Bangladesh well in control. However, once that partnership was broken, they faced a batting collapse. From 87 for 2 they slipped to 119 for 8 and gave the game away. Yasir Ali did play some lusty blows towards the end. He scored 42 runs, but it was not enough to take his side over the line.
  • It's been a rather convincing victory for Babar Azam and his men! They have kicked off this Tri-Nation series with a win and have grabbed those crucial points. They will be pretty pleased with the show they have put on here. Whereas, Bangladesh have commenced this competition on the wrong foot and will have to make amends for their next game.

This is a slower one again, full and on off, Yasir Ali waits for it and lofts it towards the long off fence where Shahnawaz Dahani tries to keep it inside but he is already standing on the ropes when he leaps to keep the ball in. The replays confirm the same and the umpire signals for a maximum.

Mohammad Wasim to Taskin Ahmed, OUT! PLUMB IN FRONT! Mohammad Wasim gets another wicket and sends Taskin Ahmed back to the hut. He bowls a brilliant yorker, on middle, Taskin Ahmed looks to play at it but is too late to put his bat down and gets rapped around his pads right in front of the stumps. There is a huge appeal for LBW and up goes the finger. Taskin Ahmed goes for the review. The UltraEdges shows no bat involved and Ball Tracking shows three reds. The original decision of Out remains and Bangladesh lose their seventh.
