Commentary
  • Problem of plenty for England? Is that good or is that bad? We shall let that be decided by you. This was a tour which England played without many of their key players, yet, won. They have plenty of players who did well for their audition of the T20 World Cup and the hosts will hope that they get a few more from the Indian series and of course, The Hundred. It kicks off on Wednesday evening and on Thursday, the Men play. Should be exciting. We have got loads of cricket coming up for you, with WI-Aus, Zim-Ban, Ire-SA, then WI-Pak, Eng-Ind and next, Ban-Aus! Keep counting the months and you will get series on the fly. Do not forget to check all of those out in our scores section. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Until the next time, ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • Victorious England captain, Eoin Morgan, says that this type of a win means a lot to his side. Stresses that this was the worst wicket in the whole series and with the boundaries pushed back, batting was nowhere easy. But ends by saying that England would have learnt a lot from this game. Details that in the UAE, during the 2020 Indian T20 League, the ball did not turn much at all. But this time, the pitches will be slow and the batsmen need to understand that they need to forge partnerships before playing their shots. Confirms that England are close to finalizing a squad of 17-18 members at this stage for the World Cup. Thanks the crowd for coming in large numbers for supporting them.
  • Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam, admits that batting let the team down, citing 10-15 runs as the shortage mark. But praises his bowlers for fighting hard. Feels that had he stayed on with Rizwan and got a partnership going, they could have scored more runs. Reckons that the batsmen did not struggle but just played poor shots. Backs his boys to play spin well in the UAE during the T20 World Cup. Thanks the support from the crowd and adds that they will miss the support in their Caribbean tour which is coming up next. Stresses that before they tour West Indies, they will sit down and discuss what went wrong in this series. States that Mohammad Hafeez is definitely a part of their World Cup plans and will be utilized accordingly.
  • LIAM LIVINGSTONE HAS BEEN NAMED AS THE PLAYER OF THE SERIES. Says that it feels nice to him to win the series on his home ground. Lauds his batters and bowlers for a good show. On his massive sixes, Livingstone says that he has been practicing in the last 2 years and it feels nice to see the hard work come through. On his useful off spin, Liam says that he bowls here in domestic games for Lancashire and was happy to do it for England in this game.
  • JASON ROY HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. On him backing his game plan, no matter what, Roy says that he was just looking to have some fun. Admits that it was difficult batting in those conditions and shyly agrees that he was lazy in his dismissal which triggered a collapse. Understands that on such pitches, you need to bat in a way which will avoid panic. Is sure that this kind of win will give them a huge amount of confidence, given that the T20 World Cup would be played in similar pitches in the UAE.
  • Earlier in the day, England read the conditions pretty well and choked Pakistan. The trio of Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone did not allow Pakistan to score freely in the middle overs. And towards the end, when the ball started to reverse, England smartly kept Rizwan off strike and perhaps that stopped them from getting to 165-170. Again, fine margins in the game. Please do stay tuned for the presentation...
  • Both the teams played an innings which mirrored each other. It was Mohammad Rizwan for Pakistan, seemingly batting on a different track as compared to the rest, while it was Jason Roy fior England. Fakhar Zaman's 24 can be compared to Dawid Malan's 31 as neither batter got going. In the end, the difference was Morgan's cameo. Curiously, England always seemed to be comfortable till the spinners came on. They were 92/1 but then slipped to 112/4 in the span of 26 balls. Figure this out. Pakistan's spinners - 15-0-110-6. Pakistan's seamers - 4.4-0-44-1. Babar did have one over of Shadab remaining. In hindsight, he could have given that 18th over to Shadab.
  • A matter of small margins, did we say? Shall explain. With spin going so well for Pakistan, should Babar Azam have gone in with Hasan Ali in the 18th over? England needed 29 from 3 overs then. It came down to 16 in the last 2 with Morgan getting into his groove with 2 sixes in the over. It did cost Pakistan as in the end, there was hardly anything to choose between the two teams.
  • What a cracking match to end a fantastic tour. It has been played in fantastic spirit. Nothing asked, nothing given, it has been fair. England have just done enough to get across the line and it was a matter of small margins which has helped the home side win the T20I series 2-1.

Hasan Ali to Chris Jordan, ENGLAND SCRAPE THROUGH BY 3 WICKETS! Hasan Ali fires in a yorker, outside off, Chris Jordan backs away and looks to slash hard. He gets an under edge which just misses the stumps and goes towards fine leg. By the time the fielder can get to the ball, Jordan has returned for the second! He pumps his fists in ecstacy.

Hasan Ali to Eoin Morgan, OUT! CAUGHT! Morgan departs and Pakistan breathe again! A length ball, around middle, from around the wicket, Morgan shimmies down the track and looks to swing it to the leg side but the ball sticks onto the pitch. The shot is through early and the ball comes on late. It is miscued towards long on where Shadab Khan takes a sitter. Down to two new batters at the crease now. England need 4 from 4 balls!

Hasan Ali to Eoin Morgan, DROPPED! How costly is that going to be? A length ball, around middle, Eoin Morgan looks to swing it to the leg side but gets a massive top edge. It is near where short mid-wicket would have been but that place is vacant. The bowler himself runs after the ball, gets to it, but cannot hold on! Two runs taken. England need 4 from 5 balls.
  • END OF OVER 19 | 10 Runs & 2 Wkt | ENG 149/6
  • Chris Jordan walks in at number 8, replacing Liam Livingstone. 6 to win. 5 gets a Super Over.

Mohammad Hafeez to Liam Livingstone, OUT! CAUGHT! 6 and gone for Livingstone. This was more of a free hit for Liam, as Morgan would have wanted strike for the next over. Hafeez realizes that too and tosses this slower through the air. Liam Livingstone is already through his almighty attempted slog and gets a top edge. Simple catch for Sohaib Maqsood at short third man. England need 6 from the final over. Mohammad Hafeez finishes with figures of 4-0-28-3!

Mohammad Hafeez to Dawid Malan, OUT! BOWLED! The match is still alive! The arm ball, straight, Dawid Malan backs away and looks to power this through the off side. But the ball pitches, skids through, beats the bat and hits the leg stump! Pakistan supporters roar. England still need 12 from 8. Super Over, anyone?

Mohammad Hafeez to Dawid Malan, MISFIELD! That will help England. Full, around middle, Malan comes down the track and hits it straight down to Shaheen Afridi at long on. Should have been just a single but Afridi fumbles and the hawk-like eyes of Morgan spot that, and he charges back for the second. Hafeez is not happy. England need 12 from 9 balls.
