Commentary
  • Right then! Bavuma collects the trophy and celebrates with the team. South Africa have completed the whitewash and will be a much confident looking side heading towards the T20 World Cup. We have enjoyed bringing the coverage of this series and hope you had fun too. We will be back soon as a lot of cricketing action is coming our way. Until then, goodbye and take care!
  • David Miller, PLAYER OF THE SERIES, is up for a chat-. He says after the struggle in the West Indies, it feels good to come back. Adds that there are different reigns taking up. Mentions that he loves to play the veteran role with this side. Goes onto say they have been really prepping well, and they really need to take it one game at a time. Goes onto say the Irish players are super friendly and it's always nice to play here. Finally says that he is looking forward to the T20 World Cup.
  • The Ireland skipper, Andy Balbirnie is up for a chat - He says that they did not bat up to the mark in the last three games and that can be seen. Goes onto say, they will work hard before the World Cup as they have got eight to nine games to play before that. Goes onto say Ben White is a really young lad, and to have him in the team helps us to have variations. Ends by saying everyone wants to play well and come back harder in the game.
  • Temba Bavuma, MAN OF THE MATCH, is up for a chat - He says that it was nice to hit the ball from the middle. Adds that they just tried to stay confident. Mentions that he has got a good relationship with Hendricks and is sure he enjoyed his opportunity as well out there. States that they tried to lay the foundation and took their time and then allow the big hitters to have fun.
  • Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony coming up.
  • Earlier in the day, South Africa chose to bat and Temba Bamuva along with Reeza Hendricks laid the foundation for South Africa. Both the openers smashed a half-century and this helped South Africa post a mighty total of 189 with David Miller playing a crucial cameo of 36 off just 17 balls. Ireland were poor with the ball and couldn't do justice with their batting either.
  • South Africa were dominant throughout the game! The Proteas started the attack with some spin and it paid off as George Linde got rid of Kevin O'Brien. Lizaad Williams then came into the attack and removed the dangerous Paul Stirling in his first over itself. George Linde was brilliant as he got rid of the Irish skipper too. Wiaan Mulder came into the attack and sent back Lord Tucker and Harry Tector in the same over. The bowlers never allowed the batters to settle in. They continued to chip in wickets and it was enough for the side to get over the victory line and whitewash Ireland in their own backyard. Geroge Linde, Lizaad Williams, and Wiaan Mulder got two wickets apiece while Andile Phehlukwayo got one. Overall, a comprehensive performance from them and they clinch the series 3-0.
  • 190 looked too hot to handle for Ireland! Paul Stirling and Kevin O'brien's opened the innings for Ireland but it didn't start well for them as the latter's dismal run of form continued and he departed for a timid score. Paul Stirling and the skipper, Andy Balbirnie then tried to stitch a partnership and just when it started to blossom, Stirling got out. After that Balbirnie chipped in with a few boundaries but once he got out, the batters found themselves in a spot of bother and none of the batters managed to either to carry on for longer or build a partnership. Half of the side were back in the hut for just 75 runs on the board. Once, the skipper got removed, things just went downhill for them and eventually, they lost by 49 runs.
