Commentary
  • Right then, that is all we have from this game and it is England who have sealed the series with a 2-0 lead. However, we still have one game left in this series and Netherlands will hope that they end this historic series on a high. There are 10 World Cup Super League points up for grabs as well, so it is not a dead-rubber by any stretch of imagination. That game will start at 2.30 pm IST (9.00 am GMT) on 22nd of June. Our build-up though begins a lot earlier. So do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
  • Eoin Morgan, the skipper of England, says that he is delighted, the guys played really well, he is happy to see Brydon Carse step up with the ball and happy for Salt and Roy as well. Mentions that Netherlands did a very good job, the wicket did slow up and they used the conditions well. Adds that England are in a stronger position, their strength and depth keeps increasing, and they keep producing young talented players, even India does have a lot of options but it's about picking the right players. He wishes Pieter Seelaar a happy retirement life and wishes him luck for his future.
  • Scott Edwards, the skipper of Netherlands, says that there were plenty of positives for them in this game and they were much better with the ball. Tells that England are a class unit and the opening partnership cost them the game. Mentions that it was a good opportunity to get 260 on the board but feels that they were not that far away from the mark. Says that they will try to come out with better plans and execution in the next game.
  • Jason Roy is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for this brilliant knock of 73 from 60 balls! He says that it is a huge honour to receive his 100th ODI cap, and he is extremely grateful. Adds that the Dutch did bowl well and put some pressure but they, managed to get over the line. On his partnership with Salt, says that it was fun batting with him, Salt is a lovely fellow and he whacks it well. Mentions that English cricket is in a very healthy state.
  • Stay tuned for the presentation...
  • Earlier in the day, after rain forced a delayed start to the proceedings, Netherlands lost early wickets with the bat. However, their skipper for this game, Edwards, stood tall and build some useful partnerships with Bas de Leede and then Teja Nidamanuru. He scored a valiant 78 and with useful contributions from a few others, Netherlands got to a decent total. However, against England one needs an above-par score more often than not and it was the case again in this game as England chased down the target with 6 wickets in hand and 29 balls to spare. A lot of credit for that should also go to the English bowlers, Willey was impressive yet again along with Rashid as both got two wickets in their kitty while young Brydon Carse also impressed with his pace and got one wicket to his name. Overall, a clinical performance from a strong English side and they would be looking to wrap up this series with another win in the final match.
  • Netherlands needed a good start with the ball to make a match out of this one but unfortunately, their bowlers failed to get the breakthrough early, and they were unable to keep the lid on the run flow as well. However, it was the spin duo of Aryan Dutt and debutant Tim Pringle that brought them back in the game. Aryan Dutt got both the openers and then Tom Cooper and Tim Pringle chipped in with a wicket apiece to bring some smiles back in the Netherlands camp. However, they could not get any further breakthrough but overall it has been a much better bowling performance from Netherlands in this game.
  • Coming to the chase, England were always the more fancied team at the halfway mark despite a decent total on board from Netherlands. Roy who missed out in the first game started off in his usual positive way and with Salt continuing from where he left off in the last game, Netherlands leaked way too many runs at the start and the duo stitched together a century stand at a brisk pace. However, Roy departed after scoring a quickfire 73 and after a brief partnership with Malan for the second wicket, Salt too missed out on a century, departing on 77. The stage was set for Morgan to get some confidence back with a good unbeaten innings but the English skipper departed for yet another duck and Livingstone also followed soon. However, despite those three wickets in quick succession, England were always on track to win this one with plenty of quality still in their ranks. Moeen Ali joined Malan and ensured that there are no further hiccups as England chased down the target quite easily in the end.
  • England takes an unassailable lead of 2-0 in this three-match ODI series! Yet another convincing performance from the World Champions and they have also bagged 10 more World Cup Super League points on the way. For the Dutch, this is a historic series and a great learning curve with their players getting a chance to lock horns with the best in the business in front of their home crowd. They were much better in all departments in this game compared to the last one and would be looking to improve further in the final game of this series.
