Commentary
  • Right then! New Zealand will look to bounce back quickly. They have a chance on 15th April at 9.30 pm IST (4 pm GMT) to level things up. Join us for the coverage of the second game. Till then, cheers!
  • Babar Azam says it has been some journey to play 100 T20I matches. Adds Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub build a good partnership and applauds the performance of other batters to keep the intent right till the end. On his bowling, they have a complete bowling line-up and he is happy to have so many options.
  • Tom Latham says the preparation wasn't ideal but they are not using that as an excuse. Tells the score was par but failed to build any stand. Applauds the performance of Matt Henry who took a Hat-trick. Hopes to adopt quickly and put on a good performance in the next match.
  • Haris Rauf is the Player of the Match. He says he needed this performance and he just tried to bowl stumps-to-stumps. Adds it is important to get wickets early on.
  • ...Presentation next...
  • At one point it looked like Pakistan were 10-15 runs short. The way they were going, 200 was up for grabs but New Zealand did well to pull things back. Even Pakistan didn't click well with the bat but small contributions from every batter made a big difference. New Zealand failed to show any intent with the bat. Eventually, Pakistan bossed with the ball and made it a one-sided affair.
  • Excellent bowling performance from Pakistan. It was an all-round performance to be honest, and they have beaten New Zealand comprehensively and take the lead in this series. New Zealand's inexperience was seen as no one stepped up with the bat. There is nothing to really talk about their batting. Mark Chapman showed some kind of character but apart from that, nothing. Credit to the Pakistani bowlers. Everyone made an impression and were just superb.
