Commentary
  • So we do have a decider! The third ODI will tell us who will win the series. Everything to play for on Wednesday. That game begins 1000 local (0800 GMT). Till then, goodbye and take care!
  • Fakhar Zaman, is the rightful MAN OF THE MATCH and says that he feels really good but it would have been better if they would have won. States he was talking to everyone and he wanted them to bat 15 to 20 balls and then it would get easy, Informs his plan was to target the small boundaries and it came off well. States they were looking for partnerships but did not get many. Ends by saying he can't say it is his best innings but had they won, then yes.
  • Temba Bavuma, South African skipper, says he is very happy to win. Further adds Zaman played one of the best innings he has seen and he always out thought the bowlers. Mentions taking wickets was the objective, he was not expecting that kind of onslaught by Fakhar but his bowlers did well to win in the end. Says they have two days of rest now and they want to rest and then it is a matter of looking at the areas where they have done well and win the last ODI.
  • Babar Azam, the Pakistani skipper, says he saw one of the best innings of his life and Fakhar played brilliantly but he is disappointed he could not finish the game. Adds till the time Zaman was batting, he felt they can win and if he had got support, the result could have been different. Mentions there are quite a positives in this game and they would want to better in the next game and win it.
  • For South Africa, Nortje was once again the star, Rabada was also good. Phehlukwayo did take a couple but was expensive. Shamsi and Ngidi were not that great. Overall, they will be happy with a win in the end but the margin could have been a lot bigger than what it was.
  • Chasing a mammoth score, Pakistan got off to a good start despite losing Imam early. However, once Azam fell, the procession started. Within no time they were 5 down and looked down and out. Zaman though continued batting from one end but he fought a lone battle. No other batter scored above 40 and that is not what you want when chasing a big score. Had he got some support, the story could well have been different.
  • Just a 17 run win in the end for South Africa! Pakistan were 120 for 5 and at that moment, nobody thought they would get this close. Just the one man, Fakhar Zaman, has single-handedly got them near the South African total. He played an innings of a lifetime and this game will surely be remembered for his knock. Very unfortunate for him to not score a double ton but it was a delight to watch him bat.

Lungi Ngidi to Fakhar Zaman, OUT! RUN OUT! Brilliant throw by the man at long off and a wonderful, wonderful innings by Fakhar comes to an end. Full ball on off and he drills it to long off, he comes back for the second but Aiden Markram hits a bullet throw at the striker's end. Fakhar was nowhere in the picture. Brilliant by de Kock too, he pretends that the throw is being made to the bowler's end and Fakhar slows down in his second run. He falls 7 short of what would have been a wonderful 200 irrespective of the result.
