Commentary
  • Right then! That is all we have from this game. The sides keep on deciding to chase but the last bunch of matches have gone the way of the team setting a target. The action in the Indian T20 League continues on Tuesday, the 5th of April as high-flying Rajasthan take on Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium across town in Mumbai. That match will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT) but our build-up as usual will start a lot earlier. Do join us then. Cheers!
  • Avesh Khan is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant spell (4-0-24-4). Says that he is trying to live up to the expectations of the team which is to take wickets and he tries to focus on it. Adds that he tried to mix things up and bowled slower deliveries along with other variations. Tells that he keeps his side ahead of himself and was trying to ball dot balls in the end. Mentions that team management is giving him a lot of confidence and he is happy with his performance tonight.
  • The captain of Lucknow, KL Rahul says that in the three games they have played so far, they have found a way to get back into the match. Adds that losing a bunch of wickets in the Powerplay is not a good sign but won't think about it too much and adds that it is still a fresh wicket and they need to learn how to adapt to the bowling early on. Mentions that they don't really plan too much as opening batters him and Quinton de Kock and both of them try to go hard at the start as they have Holder as an additional batter but they have to be smart and assess the situations as a score of about 200 might not be possible every day. About Deepak Hooda he says that he has been batting really well in the nets and he is someone who is keen to learn and is making full use of the opportunity he has been handed and hopes that he can grow more and more.
  • Time for the presentation ceremony...
  • Now Krunal Pandya too joins in for a quick chat. Pandya says that it feels great to contribute and see the team winning. Tells that it feels like this is his first season and he is very excited. Adds that winning or losing is a part of the game but mentions that it is heartening to see the brand of cricket they are playing and says that they are playing good aggressive cricket. Tells that he has worked a lot on his bowling and he has worked on his action to get some bounce and he wants to continue the good work.
  • Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson is up for a quick chat. Williamson says that their performance was much better than the last game and adds that the start with the ball in the Powerplay was amazing. Tells that if they would have broken the partnership between Hooda and Rahul a bit early then it would have been very different. Tells that it was a good wicket and 170 is a challenge but they had the firepower to chase but it could not happen today. Tells that the bowling unit did its job and it is a game of small margins and it is important to not go far ahead of themselves and keep improving.
  • Lucknow will be rejoicing at the moment as they have truly got out of jail and have shown great character to make it two wins on the trot. Avesh Khan was prolific at the top, dismissing both the opposition openers and he then came back in the 18th over to get the big wicket of Nicholas Pooran to turn the game on its head. Krunal Pandya was pretty good too as he pulled back the scoring rate and even got a couple of wickets, including that of the set-batter Rahul Tripathi. Jason Holder then added the icing on the cake with three wickets in the final over and Bishnoi and Tye played their parts as well. The latter being a tad expensive but he bowled some difficult overs as well. All in all, an uplifting performance from Lucknow.
  • Hyderabad, oh Hyderabad! Shades of last season in this performance and they have thrown away a match that they seemed to be in control of for most of the game. After losing a couple of wickets in the Powerplay, Rahul Tripathi regained lost momentum and put them in command. Then again wickets started tumbling and Tripathi got out trying to up the ante. A good sign though for Hyderabad will be Nicholas Pooran getting back into form and after a very controlled innings he too got out at the wrong time. In the end, the lower order just had to do a bit too much and they just got bundled over by the opposition.
  • What a sensational comeback this has been from Lucknow and they have snatched victory off Hyderabad's hands at the death! All credit goes to the skipper KL Rahul for bringing on Avesh Khan for the 18th over and that over completely changed the momentum of the game and Jason Holder has just sealed the deal with a fabulous final over. For the third night in a row, the team batting first has been able to defend just about a par score and the tournament just keeps on getting more and more exciting with every single game.
