Commentary
  • Right then! Every team has now played one match and Rajasthan have become the first team this year to win the match batting first. They shoot up to the top given their healthy net run rate. The action continues in the Indian T20 League on Wednesday, the 30th of March as the two familiar foes, Bangalore and Kolkata square off against each other. That match begins at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) but the build-up will begin much earlier as usual. Till then, goodbye and take care!
  • Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan captain is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his fiery half-century earlier in the evening. He says that it was a very different wicket than they thought and if one bowled the Test match lengths, the pacers got a lot of purchase. Adds that they are not looking at long-term goals at the moment and just want to focus on the next match. Adds that in the preparation leading up to the tournament, he just looked to learn about more game awareness and got to know more about what to do in certain situations. Also adds that when there are minds like Sangakara in the camp, it helps a lot. He ends by saying that it's a tough tournament and the key is to stay with the core of players throughout and they will just like to keep things simple.
  • The Presentation ceremony...
  • Prasidh Krishna is down for a chat. He says he enjoyed the surface. Says he aimed to hit the hard length and is glad it worked out for him. Mentions, they had already planned about it and hence also had two slips in place. Says, they couldn’t have asked for a better start. Adds, the pressure that Boult put from the other end really helped him to take the wickets.
  • Kane Williamson, the Hyderabad skipper is up for a quick chat. He thinks they started beautifully with the ball. Adds in the end things did not go their way. Mentions there are a few things they need to look into and would like to improve on their weak spots. Adds, to take a wicket off a no ball is never nice. Says there are a number of things they cannot control. Hopes Umran Malik just keeps moving up the ladder with each game. Says, they will sit together as a side, also as they have a little break before their next game. As a young side, they will focus on learning from each game. Ends by saying Rajasthan were truly the better side tonight.
  • When you have a score in excess of 200 in a T20 match, you're already halfway there. The only thing that can make it better is an early wicket, Rajasthan did get that, well they got 3 early wickets and the match was won then and there. Prasidh Krishna was simply outstanding at the start as he got two wickets and Trent Boult supported him really well. In the middle overs, Yuzvendra Chahal cleaned up 3 more of the recognized batters and Ravichandran Ashwin too was economical. The only bowler who had an off day was Nathan Coulter-Nile and he was really hammered to all parts of the ground and his night got worse when he had to limp off in the final over, hope he is back in no time. Rajasthan will be mightily pleased with that effort though.
  • Hyderabad have started from where they left off in the last season and generally, that is a good sign but when you've had a miserable campaign last time, it isn't the start you're looking for. Right from the first over, Kane Williamson looked under pressure and it was telling as he fell in the second over. Big hitters like Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran followed suit as both got out for a duck and Hyderabad found themselves pushed firmly up against a wall. Only Aiden Markram and Romario Shepherd put up a stand and Washington Sundar had one big over in which he took NCN to the cleaners. Markram did get to a deserving fifty and in the end, the wicket looked like it was a batting paradise. Apart from this, it was an abysmal batting display at the top from Hyderabad and they have a lot to ponder upon.
  • What an emphatic way to get the campaign underway from Rajasthan! They have demolished Hyderabad tonight and maybe have sent a message to all the other teams that they have the muscle with the bat as well as with the ball and they can defeat any team on a given day. Hyderabad on the other hand have gone down fighting, but the fight came a bit too late from their end.

  • Nathan Coulter-Nile is off! NCN bowls a no ball and seems to have hurt himself on the follow-through. He seems a bit devastated and given the game situation, rightly decides to get it checked and off the field he goes. Riyan Parag to complete the final over.

Trent Boult to Washington Sundar, OUT! CAUGHT! A brilliant cameo of Washington Sundar comes to an end here. But he certainly showed what he is capable of. Shimron Hetmyer makes no mistake in the deep. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the new batter in.
