Commentary
  • That's it from the ODI series then. West Indies have equaled Sri Lanka in terms of points in the ICC ODI rankings with this 3-0 series win. Now, it is time for some T20I action as both West Indies and Ireland take on each other in the 3-match T20I series, the first one of which will be played on January 15, Wednesday. The game will begin at 1300 local (1700 GMT). We will love your company for that game. Till then, take care!
  • Kieron Pollard, West Indies skipper, starts by saying that he is really pleased with the performance. Credits the bowlers for superb outings in all the games. Feels that they were accurate with respect to lines and lengths. Praises the batting from centurion Lewis, King and Pooran for their contribution. On the team changes, Pollard says that they have had discussions on the changes in the dressing room. Talking about Hetmyer missing out from this game, Pollard tells that it is good for West Indies cricket as it tells the dynamics of the side.
  • Andy Balbirnie, Ireland skipper, tells that they were outclassed by the West Indies bowlers. Feels that 250-260 should've been a good total. Adds that he is really proud of the boys and they will continue working hard. On the positives from the series, Balbirnie believes that the second game was a positive one for them. Feels they had a chance to win the game but they missed out on that one. Finishes by saying that they have the right balance in the squad and they have brought in some freshness to the T20I squad.
  • EVIN LEWIS IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH AND SERIES! Tells that he certainly is a relieved man as all the hard work he put in the nets came off today. Shares that his approach has not changed and adds that there was some spin but it was a really good wicket for batting. On his missed chance of scoring a century in the first ODI, Lewis says that he was determined this time to execute his plans and is delighted to score his maiden century in the Caribbean. Lets everyone know that the captain and coach are backing the players well and all their hard work in the nets is coming off nicely.
  • Ireland were extremely poor with their batting approach and apart from Andy Balbirnie, there was no fight shown by them. Hayden Walsh had a brilliant game where he claimed the third 4-wicket haul by a West Indian bowler in this series. During the chase, Evin Lewis displayed excellent form and stroked his third ODI ton. His partnerships with Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran were enough to see West Indies home.
  • A walk in the park for West Indies! They were not convincing in the last match but have produced a clinical win here to complete a clean sweep. The hosts never got pushed in this match. First, their bowlers were right on the button to restrict Ireland to a paltry total and then their batsmen stepped up to scale down the target without breaking a sweat.

A McBrine to R Shepherd, OUT! CAUGHT! West Indies going for the glory shot are losing some wickets here. McBrine tosses this one up on middle, Shepherd looks to heave it over the long on fielder and bring glory to his side but does not get the required distance on it. Mark Adair settles himself and takes a simple catch in the deep. 4 runs required and they can achieve it in singles. But they want to go for the big shot and finish it off in style.
