Commentary
  • So that is it from this game! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this series. There a lot of matches being played on Monday so we hope you join us for those games. Till then, take care and goodbye!
  • West Indies skipper, Kieron Pollard says, he is pleased with how they pulled things back, it is a small ground and it is not easy to contain but they did well. He feels they are on track and doing well at the moment, they are showing good intensity but they need to keep going. Mentions Simmons is a joy to watch when he is in that mood, for a little man he can hit them really long but he needs to be consistent and always give us good starts. Further adds, the batting throughout has been very consistent, the bowling though has to be tight.
  • Ireland skipper, Andy Balbirnie, says they were under par, they were outclassed in all the departments today. States the manner of the dismissals were very soft and it is very disappointing, however, they can take positives from drawing a series against the Windies. Ends by saying there are a few players who impressed and he hopes the others can learn too.
  • Man of the Series, Kieron Pollard, says the team wanted him to do a job with the ball, you need to come out of your comfort zone and deliver and he did so. States they need to bowl better with the new ball, they can't let the teams get off to fliers which could be dangerous against better oppositions. Mentions he uses his experience in his bowling and that is why he is doing well. He hopes the younger guys can also learn from the experience.
  • MAN OF THE MATCH, Lendl Simmons, says it was a good surface, after the rainfall, it was sliding onto the bat. States his role in this team is to go hard in the Powerplay and it is just about knowing your game now. Mentions he just wanted to go out and express himself, he did not get a score in the first game and he is happy with this performance. Ends by saying he is looking ahead for the T20 World Cup and they are preparing for that.
  • Credit though has to be given to the Windies bowlers! They were the one who set this victory up. They pulled things back outstandingly after O'Brien and Stirling got Ireland off to a flier. They did really well to pick up wickets at regular intervals and restrict Ireland to a below par score which they easily chased.
  • Chasing 139, one partnership is all you need and the Windies openers delivered. The two added 133 with Simmons being the mainstay and Lewis playing second fiddle. The latter fell 4 short of a half ton but Simmons stayed till the end and remained unbeaten 9 short of a ton. A destructive performance by him.
  • That was some hitting! Brutal stuff from Simmons, just the 11 overs to chase 139. WOW! Yes, the target was always under-par but not many thought the Windies would do so quickly. Their players have rose to the occasion in this must-win game and ensured that they do not lose the series.

S Singh to E Lewis, OUT! In the air... taken! Stop the press, the Irish have broken through! A little too late but something to rejoice for them. Lewis walks back 4 short of a half ton. A good innings from him, played second fiddle to Simmons but has done his job. Simi slows it up and lands it on middle, Lewis looks to play the slog sweep but gets a top edge. It goes high up in the air towards the leg side. Wilson calls for it and takes it.
