Jog Falls is divided into four segments known as Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket. It is suspected that a rock from a height of around 100 feet may have fallen in the lower part of the Rocket section.

Reports also suggest that the impact of the falling rock disturbed the water in the pools below the Raja and Roarer sections, causing it to become heavily agitated.

Officials and locals suspect that due to the intense summer conditions and reduced water flow in the waterfall, the exposed rocks may have developed cracks due to heat and subsequently collapsed.

Further details are awaited.
