₹1.20 Lakh Discount on This ₹6 Lakh SUV, Direct Rival to Tata Punch Gets Cheaper

Newspoint

Japanese carmaker Nissan is offering a big New Year benefit on its popular compact SUV, the Nissan Magnite. The Magnite is currently the only model sold by Nissan in the Indian market, and the company is trying to attract buyers by offering discounts of up to ₹1.20 lakh for a limited period.

Earlier, Nissan had announced a 3 percent price hike on the Magnite, effective from January 1. However, before the increase could impact buyers, the company rolled out this limited-time discount. Customers purchasing the Magnite before January 22 can avail these benefits. While Nissan has not officially disclosed the exact breakup of the discount, the overall benefit can significantly reduce the effective on-road price.

As per Nissan’s official website, the starting price of the Magnite currently stands at ₹5.61 lakh (ex-showroom). After the proposed 3 percent hike, the base variant price was expected to go up to around ₹5.78 lakh. However, the discount of up to ₹1.20 lakh can easily offset this increase, making the deal highly attractive for budget SUV buyers.

Direct competition with Tata Punch

In the compact SUV segment, the Nissan Magnite competes directly with models like Renault Kiger, Tata Punch, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Kia Sonet. One of the biggest highlights of the Magnite is its safety rating. Like the Tata Punch, the Magnite has also received a 5-star rating from Global NCAP, making it one of the safest budget SUVs in India.

Safety features on Nissan Magnite

The Magnite comes equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, ABS, and EBD. These features make it a strong choice for buyers who prioritize safety along with affordability.

Engine options and mileage
The Nissan Magnite is offered with two petrol engine options—a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The SUV is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. Recently, Nissan also introduced a factory-fitted CNG option for the Magnite, which delivers an impressive mileage of up to 24 km/kg, making it an economical option for daily use.
