Car Buyers Alert: Tata Punch EV, Mahindra Scorpio and More Set for Major Updates in 2026
The Indian automobile market is gearing up for a busy 2026, with several popular cars and SUVs slated for updates or facelifts. At least seven notable vehicles, including the Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Punch EV, Hyundai Verna, Hyundai Exter, Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Brezza, are expected to receive significant upgrades this year. These updates range from battery improvements and design tweaks to new infotainment features and enhanced safety systems.
Tata Punch EV Facelift
Tata Motors is expected to unveil the refreshed Punch EV on February 20th. The most notable update could be a larger 45kWh battery, likely borrowed from the Nexon EV, which may boost the range to over 450 km on a single charge. Existing 25kWh and 35kWh battery options could remain as well. Inside, the SUV may feature a larger touchscreen, improved seat covers, a premium sound system, and a 360-degree camera.
Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift
The facelifted Mahindra Scorpio N has already been spotted undergoing tests. It is likely to launch later this year with a redesigned front fascia. Interior upgrades may include a larger infotainment screen, a new digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof, adding both luxury and tech appeal to the rugged SUV.
Skoda Kushaq and Slavia Updates
Skoda will update its Kushaq SUV in March 2026, followed by the Slavia sedan. While engine options will remain the same, the Kushaq could get an 8-speed automatic gearbox, a panoramic sunroof, a refreshed digital display, new color options, and minor design changes. The Slavia facelift is expected to feature similar upgrades, keeping it modern and competitive.
Hyundai Verna and Exter Facelift
Hyundai has begun testing the 2026 Verna and Exter models in India. The Verna will adopt the company’s new global design language, with a revamped front end and updated interior. The Exter facelift is expected to sport a redesigned grille, refreshed bumpers, and new variant options, while engine options are likely to remain unchanged.
Maruti Brezza Facelift
The Maruti Brezza is also slated for updates in 2026. It could feature Level-2 ADAS for advanced safety, an underbody CNG tank, and minor design tweaks similar to the Brezza Victory edition. The existing 1.5-liter petrol and petrol-CNG engines are expected to remain unchanged, ensuring reliable performance while adding new features.
With these updates, 2026 promises an exciting year for car enthusiasts and buyers in India, offering enhanced features, modern design, and better performance across multiple segments.
