Honda Cars India has introduced a striking new variant of its popular mid-size sedan—the City Sport Edition. Aimed at customers who seek a more athletic appearance along with premium comfort, this limited-edition model is priced at ₹14.89 lakh (ex-showroom). With deliveries expected to begin shortly, the City Sport Edition offers cosmetic upgrades and added features, distinguishing it from the standard trims without changing its proven performance setup.

Sporty Makeover to Attract Young Buyers

The City Sport Edition sets itself apart visually with a bolder, black-themed exterior design. Key highlights include a glossy black grille, boot-lid spoiler, shark-fin antenna, and black mirror caps. Even the alloy wheels come with a black finish, lending the sedan a stealthy and athletic character. The signature ‘Sport’ badging on the rear subtly reinforces the identity of this edition.

Buyers can choose from three exterior shades—Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray Metallic. Each colour is designed to complement the dark styling elements, enhancing the model’s dynamic appeal on urban roads.

Premium Cabin with Sport-Inspired Details

The sporty treatment continues inside the cabin as well. The City Sport Edition gets an all-black interior theme with red contrast stitching and accents. These touches appear on the seats, door pads, dashboard, and steering wheel, offering a sense of flair and vibrance to an otherwise mature interior layout.

Additionally, gloss black surrounds for the air vents and a dark roof liner contribute to the immersive sporty vibe. Honda has also added a seven-colour ambient lighting setup to further elevate the in-cabin experience during night-time drives.

Loaded With Comfort and Safety Features

Despite being a limited-run version, Honda has ensured that the Sport Edition doesn’t fall short on practicality. It includes all features offered in the V CVT trim—such as projector headlamps, LED DRLs and tail-lamps, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors, and push-button start/stop.

Comfort-oriented additions include automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display, connected car features, and leatherette upholstery on the seats, gear knob, and steering wheel.

In terms of safety and driver assistance, the City Sport Edition continues to offer Honda Sensing ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, departure warning, high beam assist, and lead vehicle departure alert. These advanced technologies add immense value for buyers focused on safety and semi-autonomous driving support.

Powertrain Remains Unchanged, Focus on CVT Convenience

Under the bonnet, the Honda City Sport Edition retains the familiar 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 121 bhp and 145 Nm of torque—figures that remain unchanged from other variants. This engine is exclusively mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) for smooth, clutch-free operation.

The decision to offer only an automatic transmission in the Sport Edition reinforces Honda’s focus on urban buyers who value convenience and ease of use during daily commutes.

Positioned Strategically Between Value and Style

With a price tag of ₹14.89 lakh, the Sport Edition commands a premium of ₹49,000 over the standard V CVT variant. However, the added equipment, sport-themed aesthetics, and enhanced interior ambiance help justify the extra cost. It caters well to customers seeking more visual drama and extra comfort without stretching their budget to the higher VX or ZX trims.

Honda has opened bookings for the new variant across its dealerships and official website, and early interest suggests that this special edition could be a hit among younger professionals and style-conscious urban buyers.

The launch of the Honda City Sport Edition marks a smart move by Honda to inject new life into the City lineup. Without altering its core mechanicals, the company has managed to deliver a fresher, more exciting version of the beloved sedan. It brings a blend of sporty styling, advanced tech, and reliable performance, making it a tempting choice in the competitive mid-size segment.
