Hyundai’s compact hatchback legacy continues to shine as the i10 family surpasses 3.3 million unit sales globally. Since its debut in 2007, the car has become a household favourite in India, with over 2 million units sold domestically. Another 1.3 million units have been exported to more than 140 countries, including South Africa, Mexico, and Peru. Now in its third generation as the Grand i10 Nios, the model continues to appeal to first-time buyers and family motorists alike.

Three Generations Of Success
Spanning nearly two decades, the i10 has evolved through three key versions: the original i10, the Grand i10, and the current Grand i10 Nios. Each iteration has adapted to changing customer expectations, offering upgrades in design, performance, and safety, while remaining a compact and reliable city car.

Powertrain Options And Pricing
The Grand i10 Nios is available with three powertrain options. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 82 bhp and 113.8 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. A CNG variant is also on offer, producing 68 bhp and 95.2 Nm, paired exclusively with a manual transmission. Prices for the petrol variant start at Rs 5.98 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a competitive choice in the entry-level hatchback market.

Safety And Convenience Features
Hyundai has equipped the Grand i10 Nios with an extensive list of features, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The hatch also includes LED daytime running lights, cruise control, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. These features enhance both safety and driving convenience, especially for urban users.

A Favourite Among First-Time Buyers
In the fiscal year 2024–25, more than 45% of Grand i10 Nios buyers were first-time car owners, a strong indicator of the hatchback’s appeal to young and budget-conscious customers. The model has witnessed strong traction in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana, cementing its status as a trusted city car.

Preferred By Families
The Grand i10 Nios also sees widespread preference among families, with data revealing that over 83% of its owners are married. The vehicle’s mix of compact size, safety, and affordability makes it a practical choice for everyday family use, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas.

Exports To Over 140 Countries
Beyond India, Hyundai has exported the i10 family to over 140 countries, including key markets across South America and Africa. This global reach reflects the model’s strong engineering and broad customer appeal, particularly in regions that value compact, fuel-efficient cars.

With over 3.3 million global sales and 2 million Indian units delivered, Hyundai’s i10 family continues to be a pillar of the brand’s success. As it adapts to the evolving preferences of both new and repeat buyers, the Grand i10 Nios stands as a reliable, safe, and value-rich hatchback in an increasingly competitive segment.
