Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Hatchback Upgrade Standard Safety with 6 Airbags in All Variants

Maruti Suzuki has given its much-loved Wagon R hatchback a serious safety upgrade for 2025. The biggest highlight? Six airbags now come as standard across all variants — a move that brings it in line with the brand’s latest focus on enhancing passenger protection.

The six-airbag setup includes dual front airbags, front seat side airbags, and curtain airbags, making the Wagon R a much safer ride than before. It now joins the ranks of other recently upgraded Maruti models like the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Eeco, and Celerio in offering this enhanced safety package.

Same Look, Smarter Safety
Design-wise, the Wagon R sticks to its tried-and-tested formula. Both the exterior and interior remain unchanged, continuing with the tall-boy look that made it popular in the first place. You still get practical features like a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric ORVMs, and 14-inch alloy wheels.

Safety Tech & Engine Options
Apart from the new airbags, the car also includes ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and central locking — all of which add up to a safer everyday driving experience.

Under the hood, there are no changes. The Wagon R continues to offer two engine choices:

  • A 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol (also available with a factory-fitted CNG option)
  • A 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol
  • Both engines can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Price Bump Incoming
Maruti has announced a price increase of up to ₹15,000 for the updated Wagon R, though variant-wise pricing details are still under wraps.

With this important safety upgrade, the 2025 Wagon R becomes not just a value-packed hatchback but also a safer choice for Indian families. It's a smart move by Maruti Suzuki, keeping the Wagon R in the spotlight — now with peace of mind included.
