India’s midsize SUV market has a new entrant with the launch of the Maruti Victoris . Priced between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 19.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), the SUV has been positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara. Available in six trims, it brings multiple powertrain choices, a strong hybrid option, modern features and Level 2 ADAS, making it one of the most tech-laden vehicles in the company’s portfolio.

Pricing And Variants

Maruti has adopted a competitive strategy for the Victoris by pricing it aggressively across six trims. The base LXI with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid manual is available at Rs 10.5 lakh, while the range-topping ZXI+(O) strong-hybrid eCVT is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh. A variety of combinations are offered, including mild-hybrid automatics, an AWD option, CNG-powered versions, and the range-efficient strong hybrid. Customers can also opt for Maruti Suzuki Subscribe, with monthly rentals starting at Rs 27,707, which cover maintenance, insurance, registration and road-side assistance.

Rivals In The Market

The Victoris enters one of the most competitive SUV categories in India. It will go head-to-head with strong performers like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor and Honda Elevate. Positioned as a premium alternative within Maruti’s Arena portfolio, it is expected to attract urban families and young professionals seeking tech-driven mobility with strong value for money.

Exterior And Interior Features

The Victoris is designed with a bold stance and practical features. Highlights include LED headlights, LED fog lamps, LED tail lights, 17-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, the SUV offers a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a premium eight-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system. While the design philosophy is simple, the cabin is built to provide a mix of practicality and modern comfort.

Safety And ADAS Technology

One of the most notable achievements for the Victoris is its Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a first for Maruti. Safety equipment also includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. These features helped the Victoris secure a full 5-star crash safety rating in both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP tests, placing it firmly among the safest SUVs in its class.

Powertrain Choices

Borrowing from the Grand Vitara, the Victoris comes with three distinct powertrain options. The 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol produces 103hp and can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The automatic version is also available with an all-wheel-drive system. The 1.5-litre strong hybrid delivers 116hp and comes mated to an e-CVT gearbox, offering an efficient yet smooth drive. The CNG variant, producing 89hp, is paired with a 5-speed manual and has its cylinder positioned under the boot floor to optimise space.

Fuel Efficiency

Efficiency remains a strong selling point for the Victoris. The strong-hybrid variant offers a remarkable 28.56kpl (ARAI-certified), making it one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in India. The CNG version returns 27.02km/kg, while the mild-hybrid versions deliver between 19.07kpl and 21.18kpl depending on transmission choice and drivetrain. This balance of performance and frugality ensures the Victoris appeals to both city commuters and long-distance travellers.

Subscription Flexibility

In addition to traditional ownership, Maruti is pushing its subscription model to widen accessibility. With prices beginning at Rs 27,707 per month, the scheme covers all major ownership costs, providing a hassle-free option for buyers who prefer flexibility over long-term commitments. This approach also aligns with the preferences of younger buyers in urban markets.

Market Outlook

With its aggressive pricing, broad range of powertrain options, strong hybrid efficiency, and segment-first safety technologies, the Maruti Victoris is poised to shake up the midsize SUV segment. Given its positioning between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, the SUV is expected to pull in a wide base of customers, particularly those seeking premium features without stepping into higher price bands.
